Hey peeps! I’m back with more Royal Rumble Trivia for you! After looking at The Royal Rumble vs Money in The Bank, which you can read here if you missed it, it got me thinking.
Who is the most successful Royal Rumble entrant never to win the event and what has he accomplished to be the most successful entrant? I’m just going to throw it out there. When I was researching this article, I found some facts and figures that made for interesting reading. Here’s just a taste of the figures I came across:
- Legendary WWF/E Superstar “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan holds the distinction of being the 1st-ever Royal Rumble winner – he eliminated One Man Gang to win the event in 1988
- Rey Mysterio has the longest recorded time in Royal Rumble history – he lasted just over 62 minutes when he won the 2006 Rumble, beating Bob Backlund’s 1993 record by just over a minute
- Rey Mysterio is the shortest Superstar to ever win the Royal Rumble – he’s also the only masked wrestler in history to win the Royal Rumble
- Santino Marella was in the ring for just 1.9 seconds in 2009, beating The Warlord’s record of 2 seconds in 1989
- In 1995, Mo and Owen Hart only lasted 3 seconds in the Royal Rumble match
- Alberto Del Rio holds the record for winning the largest Royal Rumble in history – he won the 40-man Rumble in 2011
- Steve Austin holds the record for most Royal Rumble wins – he won 3 (1997, 1998 and 2001)
- Kane has appeared in more Royal Rumbles than anyone in history – 16 in total
- Kane holds the record for the most consecutive Rumble appearances – 14 (between 1999 & 2013)
- Kane has the record for the most eliminations in a single Royal Rumble – 11 in 2001
- Kane holds the record for the most appearances without winning – 14

- Kane eliminated Santino Marella after just 1 second in the 2009 Royal Rumble – the fastest elimination in history
- Kane holds the record for entering the Royal Rumble match at the highest ever entry number – 40 in 2011
So, looking back on all the numbers (and we know the Rumble is all about the numbers), is Kane the most successful entrant to never win?
In short? Yes, I think so.
I make no secret of the fact that I’m a huge fan of Kane. He’s arguably doing his best work ever in WWE at the minute with Daniel Bryan as part of Team Hell No (great team, shocking name), but will WWE ever give him that elusive Royal Rumble win?
